Overview
NIC students, faculty and staff all have access to have JAWS, ZoomText or Fusion on their home or personally owned computers. This article describes the process for installing these software packages.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to https://portal.freedomscientific.com/SponsoredSoftware, enter your @nic.edu Email Address and hit the "Search" button:
On the next page, click the "Continue to registration" button:
- On the Registration page, complete the mandatory fields with an asterisk symbol and then hit the "Register" button:
- You should be an email confirmation in your email inbox. Click on the link within the email, "Confirm your portal account here".
- The link will open a page to Confirm Email:
- Click the link to "Please sign in now". Sign in using the credentials you supplied in step 3:
- Once you are logged in, click the "Manage" button in the top right > and click "My Products". Click the blue button labeled "Activate this Computer":
- The File Download Notification window will appear. Select a software package (JAWS, ZoomText, or Fusion).
Select the software you would like to install and click "OK".
- The Installation EXE file will be downloaded to your default "Downloads" location. Open the Installation program:
- On the first screen, click the button labelled "Yes, Install and Activate":
Click the checkbox that says, "I accept the license agreement" and then click the "Install" button:
- The next screen will show you the installation progress. When you see the message, "The JAWS Install and Activation have completed successfully", click the "Close" button:
- Lastly, JAWS will start and prompt you to login with the credentials you created in step 3:
- Congratulations, JAWS is installed! You may be prompted to reboot your PC and can begin using JAWS through the desktop icon or by searching for the program in the Start menu of your PC.
