Extron GlobalViewer Enterprise

Importing an Extron MLC226IP controller to GlobalViewer Enterprise (GVE)

Preliminary work:

  • Device should have the initial Global Configurator 3 (GC3) configuration
  • Connect the device to the network
  • Access Webpage using 192.168.254.254/nortxe_index.html
    • Allow DHCP
    • Set password

 

Using InfoBlok:

  • Search for the device MAC address
  • Copy and paste IP and MAC into ERS C

Using GC3:

            Under File choose New

                        Create new project

                                    A Project Settings window will open - choose Cancel

                                    An Add Device window will open – choose

                                                IP Link Device – MLC226IP

                                                TCP - Choose Advanced

                                                Enter IP address, passwords and Download Device Configuration

                                                Choose Ok

*If, in the IP Link tab of GC3, the MLC226IP still shows the default IP address - it can be renamed with a right click.

 

           

            Choose the GlobalViewer Tab:

In the right column – Device Locations – choose the folder and create a new location. Use the building initials and room number to name the location

Right click MLC226IP and drag and drop on to location

Set GVE ID to building initial and room number

           

Save configuration to G:\Installs\Extron\GC3 Configs

Build All

 

In GlobalViewer Enterprise choose:

System Menu tab

Import Manager

Import New Configurations

Enter Project Name (Building Initials and room number), GV Host is the IP address, enter password and then import.

 

After a successful import choose System Menu then Tree Manager.

The latest imports will be in the New/Unassigned GC Rooms column.

To add it to an existing building right click and drag it onto the building – prepare for lag. Initially it may take a couple tries to get it added.

To add a new building, right click North Idaho College and choose Create Child Location

After the addition choose the Help Desk tab to bask in the glory of your work.
