When you access a website, the browser caches (stores) it so that it doesn't have to keep retrieving the same information. This allows your browser to operate quicker and more efficiently. This stores information such as form information, shopping cart contents, and authentication information (credentials). As a result, it could be that you are seeing cached information, not necessarily what is current on a site. Clearing cache and cookies often solves many of the most basic browser issues that people encounter on a daily basis.
