Cisco VPN is a service that allows you to connect to campus resources such as H Drive, U Drive and CROA.  VPN should only be installed on NIC computers and requires supervisor approval. 

Cisco VPN Remote Access

STEP 1:  Download and save the NIC VPN file to your computer (filename = CiscoVPN2024).  Note:  You can download this file here or you can contact the IT Help Desk at 208-769-3280 for assistance. If you download the file from Box, click Continue to sign in, and click Download to download the installer.
STEP 2:  Find the downloaded file and double-click on it to run the installation.  Note:  Depending on your browser the file may auto run.
STEP 3:  When the installation window appears, choose Next.
STEP 4:  Accept the license agreement, click Next.
STEP 5:  Click Install.
STEP 6:  Click Yes if prompted.
STEP 7:  Wait while Cisco Secure Client installs, then click Finish.
STEP 8:  Go to your list of programs on your computer.  Find and open the Cisco Secure Client application. Enter vpn.nic.edu into the box (if not already entered) and click Connect.
STEP 9:  When prompted, enter your NIC username and password.  Click OK.

Important Note: Duo is required for VPN 

If you have Duo set up on your mobile device, you will get an automatic push sent to your mobile device that will need to be approved before you can connect. If you have a FOB, please enter your password in as password,code where the code is the numeric code provided by your Duo FOB.

STEP 10:  Once the VPN client establishes a connection, the client minimizes back into the system tray and says Connected.
STEP 11:  To disconnect VPN, click once on the Cisco VPN icon in the system tray to bring up the client. Click Disconnect.
