Self Service - How to Approve a Plan

  1. Log into your MyNIC account at https://my.nic.edu and click on Self Service.
  2. From the Self Service main menu, select Advising.
  3. From this list of your advisees, select a Student.
    • Note: You can search for a student by name or ID number in the search box.
  4. The Course Plan tab shows the classes the student has requested to register for during registration.
    1. Advisors can approve/deny all courses at once by choosing Select.
    2. Advisors can approve/deny individual courses by placing a check mark beside the course.
    3. Once a course(s) is selected, choose Approve or Deny from the main menu.
    4. Classes approved appear with a green thumbs up, classes denied appear with a red thumbs down.
  5. Protecting a Course:
    • In addition to approving semester plans, advisors can protect certain courses.  When a course is protected a student cannot remove the course from the planned semester.
