Data Loss or Breach

A data breach occurs when either data is lost or accessed by unauthorized users.  Data breaches are very serious and need to be reported immediately upon suspicion.

Examples of times when you would report a data breach:

• A lost laptop, tablet, computer, or device with sensitive information that is not encrypted.
• A lost flash drive with sensitive information on it.
• Suspicion that your user account credentials have been compromised and someone else is accessing the system as you.
• Discovery of Insecure files on the network or another device.
